The RNLI Penlee Lifeboat Station has fundraisers in many walks of life but some are more unusual than other.
Over the last 50 years Kif Wood from Perranuthnoe has been making unique guitars, but last year in a bid to show that he could make something that both sounds and looks stunning out of virtually any timber, he raided the skip at the Cabin Cafe during its renovation and the result is incredible.
He has produced a beautiful guitar from scrap wood and the ensuing auction raised £1,117.50 to be split between RNLI Penlee and the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Last week Penlee invited Kif and his wife Jean to visit the station and a personal tour around the all-weather Severn Class Lifeboat 17-36 Ivan Ellen, where coxswain ‘Patch’ Harvey presented him with a thank you certificate.
