RSPCA Cornwall is on a drive to recruit volunteer “community support officers”, throughout Cornwall, to increase public awareness of the charity and its work and assist with fund-raising.

Retail outlets such as garden centres, shops, golf clubs, cafés, tourist attractions, holiday parks and resorts and pubs, could be approached with a view to accepting a cash pot in a visible place where coins (and hopefully some notes) can be put through the slot and go towards the £800,000 per annum that is needed to keep the centre, near St Columb, running.

It is hoped the officers can set up meetings and present the case for RSPCA Cornwall at schools, residential homes and wherever the likes of Women’s Institutes, The U3A (University of the Third Age) and other groups hold regular meetings, with a view to raising funds and possibly rehoming some of the waifs and strays currently at HQ.

These are unpaid positions, open to all-comers with a few hours per week to spare.

If you would like to come on board at RSPCA Cornwall please contact Sammy Howard at [email protected] or call 01637 881455.
