A group of members and friends from the Rotary Club of St Austell Bay visited Cornwall Air Ambulance headquarters to present a cheque for £5,000 and learn more about the work of this well-loved Cornish charity.
The money had been raised at two events: a golf competition at St Austell Golf Club in September, and a fast-throwing darts competition in October.
The darts team with the highest score was the Bugle Inn, who also raised the greatest sponsorship. Other pubs competing were the Ship Inn, Pentewan and the Hewas Inn, Sticker.
Club president Paul Hancock thanked all golf and darts players, supporters and hosts.
The club’s next fund-raising event is the Tree of Light at Holy Trinity Church in St Austell. Each light on the tree is placed there in memory of a loved one.
The lights were switched on Monday evening following a special Family Service with Mount Charles band. The main beneficiary of this event is Cornwall Hospice Care.
The Rotary Club of St Austell Bay meets on Monday evenings at the Britannia Inn. To find out more, call Mike Ward on 07742 607567.
