People brought along food to share and Bow River provided the entertainment.

The Salvation Army in Newquay, Age UK Newquay (Govenek) and Eden Project Communities were among the organisations in attendance.

Crantock Street Community Garden committee aims to raise £50,000 through a Crowdfunder campaign towards its redevelopment plans.

The committee has already been granted £100,000 in principle from Cornwall Council through a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) but needs the extra funds to complete the redevelopment designed by award winning landscape gardener Kim Parish from Landscapes of Distinction.

The much-needed makeover involves levelling out the site and installing a planting scheme, benches and various planters.

Anna Jay, the chair of Crantock Street Community Garden, said: “We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone that came down to Crantock Street Community Garden for our annual Big Lunch.

“It was such a wonderful opportunity to celebrate partnerships and community in Newquay. As ever, a massive thank you to Bow River for providing the entertainment for us. And to all the generous people who donated raffle prizes.

“We are raising funds for the redevelopment of the garden and have received grants from Newquay Town Council and Cornwall Council.

“We are awaiting a decision from Cornwall Council for a considerable CIL grant which will dictate whether we are able to progress with our plans. For this, we need to demonstrate that we have engaged with the community to get their views and input and would be hugely grateful if as many people as possible could complete our brief survey www.surveymonkey.com/r/XVM5MRT

“We are also asking for donations towards our Crowdfunder. Please dig deep to support us www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/crantock-street-community-garden---redevelopment
