A residential address that caused the local community in Troon, near Camborne, repeated havoc has now been shut for three months in a bid to put a stop to antisocial behaviour (ASB).

The residential property, located on Fore Street, had been reported to the police for noise disturbances, people visiting the address at all hours of the day, suspected drug dealing and drug taking in and around the address.

Following an investigation into the reports, a full closure order was served on Wednesday, October 1. It is now an offence for anyone to enter the property for three months.

The tenants impacted by this order have been signposted to relevant support services while the order is in place.

Police inspector Lou Brown, who heads up the neighbourhood team in the area, said: “Decisions to obtain these orders are never our first choice – we’ll always do our best to work with the owners and/or tenants to solve the issues before we escalate our response.

“The detrimental impact that this behaviour was having on local residents was significant and we needed to take action to keep our community safe.”

Commenting on the importance of reporting, Insp Brown said: “We wouldn’t have been able to achieve this outcome if people hadn’t told us about what was going on - thank you to everyone that reported to us.

“If you’re experiencing something similar, please tell the police about it. We’re listening and taking action to keep you and our communities safe.”

The order was secured as a result of an investigation carried out by the Camborne neighbourhood team and Kay Smith, ASB Officer for Cornwall Council.
