Police are at the scene following a “serious” altercation in Bodmin in the early hours of Sunday.

Emergency services descended on the incident, which happened on Castle Canyke Road at 3.15am.

One person has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A police cordon remain in place whilst the police carry out their enquiries.

A police spokesman said: “Police were called at 3.15am today to Castle Canyke Road, Bodmin, to a report of a serious altercation.

“Emergency services responded and one person has been arrested in connection to the incident.

“A cordon remains in place and officers are carrying out an investigation in the area.

“Further details to come in due course.

Leigh Frost, the Cornwall councillor for Bodmin and St Petroc, said: “Many people will be aware of the awful tragic news that has happened on Castle Canyke Road last night. 

“The police are on the scene and the access to the road is closed.

"At this moment at time I strongly urge everyone to let the professionals do their jobs and keep the speculation to a minimum. 

“My thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
