New plans have been revealed to upgrade a filling station near Truro which will include demolishing and rebuilding the sales building and installing new electric vehicle charging points.
Shell has submitted the proposals for its filling station on the A39 at Playing Place to Cornwall Council.
The filling station has been in place since the 1990s and the planning documents state that it has been some time since it was last upgraded and that the infrastructure on site it now in need of modernisation.
Under the proposals the existing sales building and forecourt would be demolished and replaced with all new facilities. As well as new fuel filling points for up to six cars there will also be fast recharging facilities for up to eight electric vehicles.
The proposed new sales building will be larger than the existing facilities and would include customer toilets and a cashpoint.
The documents state: “The existing shop is compact and cramped and is not an ideal environment for customers or those working within it. The enlarged sales building will help to address this, whilst also providing more customer toilets, including disabled facilities.”
