PLANS to create an orchard at an allotment in Newquay have come to fruition.
Newquay Town Council environment service has planted six fruit trees at the Trencreek Allotments after receiving funding from Forest for Cornwall.
A town council spokesperson said: “The beautiful fruit trees mark the beginning of a small orchard designed to boost biodiversity, provide shade and shelter and create a welcoming communal space for allotment users and visitors. We have chosen fruit trees as they are fantastic for wildlife.
“They attract pollinators like bees and butterflies in spring, offer food for birds and insects in autumn, and provide shelter year-round. Plus, they’re a joy to watch grow and change with the seasons. We’re excited to see this space flourish and become a peaceful, productive corner of the allotment.”
