PLANS for 30 new homes on the Lizard peninsula is among the latest planning applications submitted to Cornwall Council.

An application has been made to build 30 affordable houses on land north east of Higher Moor in Ruan Minor on the Lizard peninsula.

A planning statement said the proposed development would be situated within the South Coast Western Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and would be sensitively designed to minimise visual and environmental impact.

The proposal includes enhancement of the existing hedgerows and the introduction of a new Cornish hedge along the northern boundary to provide natural screening to the neighbouring hamlet of Kuggar.

Vehicular access would be available via Higher Moor, with pedestrian access provided through a gateway from Glebe Place.

The site is bounded by residential development to the south west and open fields to the north west and north east.

A public right of way traverses the site from the north west, connecting the surrounding countryside to the village via Glebe Place.

If approved the housing mix would be five 1.5 bed bungalows, one two-bed bungalow, four one-bed flats, ten three-bed houses, nine two-bed houses and one four-bed house.
