A BEACH in Cornwall has been revealed as the ‘most dog friendly’ in the UK.

Cornwall dominates the leaderboard, with Perranporth Beach topping the list, followed closely by Fistral Beach in second, with Crantock Beach in fourth and Watergate Bay in sixth place.

New research from Canine Cottages revealed that 43 per cent of dog owners find it difficult to locate dog-friendly beaches while on holiday.

In pursuit of helping dog owners find the best beach destinations to visit, the Canine Cottages team looked into beaches across the country to reveal the UK’s most dog-friendly beaches based on factors such as traveller reviews, dog-friendly activities, car park accessibility and terrain.

Ranking top of the list for overall dog-friendliness is Perranporth Beach, which offers plenty of rock pools to nose about in and waves to splash in. A haven for dogs and their seaside-loving owners, the beach is dog-friendly all year round.

However, dogs are required to be on leads this month and in August on the main beach area, but this still leaves a wide expanse of dunes and beach where they can be let off, particularly at low tide.

There are also plenty of dog-friendly eateries where owners can even find pup-friendly ice cream. The beach also recorded the highest average temperatures of the beaches analysed.

Fistral Beach, which ranks second overall on the list, is a playground for energetic pups, who are free to roam all year round.

Little Fistral, which is tucked away on the approach to the headland, is a smaller, more rugged option for a stroll. As a haven for foodies, Newquay offers 34 dog-friendly options.

Crantock Beach, a quieter alternative for seaside adventures, boasts super-soft sands perfect for paws to roam and crystal-clear waters to paddle in. There are no restrictions for canine companions, meaning they can roam free year-round.
