A NEW water refill station has been installed in Porth to help cut plastic waste and support ocean health.

Newquay Town Council, in partnership with environmental charity Our Only World, have erected the dolphin shaped water fountain onto the public toilets at Porth Beach.

The station will serve both locals and visitors by providing easy access to refillable water and cutting down on single-use plastic bottles.

The initiative is part of a wider movement across Cornwall, led by Our Only World, to promote sustainable alternatives that protect the environment.

Mayor Cllr Drew Creek said: "We’re excited to partner with Our Only World on this project. It’s not just about providing access to free, clean water, but about protecting our oceans and creating a greener, sustainable future for Newquay.”

The water fountain is the second that has been installed in Newquay. The first was put in place at Killacourt. A third is being explored at additional locations as part of a long-term plan to build a network of refill stations along the Cornish coast.

Educational signage will be placed alongside the fountain to highlight the impact of single-use plastics and encourage sustainable habits among beach users.

The project was led by Our Only World, who designed, built, and installed the unit, with support from Newquay Town Council, which provided the site, water, and ongoing maintenance making the installation possible through local collaboration.
