A NEW mural for the Newquay street art trail featuring the Cribbar is taking shape.
Artist Chris Dorning is creating the design on the side of the former Red Lion stables building in King Edward Crescent.

The artist’s design portrays what is it like for a surfer to ride the giant wave, which has gained notoriety around the world.
The Cribbar mural, which will include the five arches, is being delivered by Jack Tierney from Slapdash Studio and funded by the Boardmasters Foundation.
The artwork will be a welcome addition for many people who have called for the former stables to be brightened up over recent years.

Chris, who is from Ulverston in the Lake District, said: “The mural depicts how special it is to ride the Cribbar. Only the ones who experience the thrill take it where they go.
“That is shown in the two surfers walking along with a glass tank with the Crbbar wave inside.
“I lived in Newquay for one season 21 years ago when I had just turned 20 and I enjoyed it.
“It’s like being back home almost even though I was only here for three months.
“I have been painting and drawing all my life, since I can remember. My styles and themes constantly evolve as I learn to enjoy the forever process of discovery with every passing day.”

Mr Tierney added: “Chris is a great artist and he’s a surfer, so he is the perfect candidate to be creating a mural of the iconic Cribbar wave.
“There will be murals in each of the archways so it will work like animation cells.
“It is great to be working on a painting mural.”
The Cribbar artwork will be fifth mural in the Newquay street art walking trail, which aims to attract visitors to the town.
The first mural unveiled was an abstract beach scheme created by Cornwall-based artist Kleiner Shames at MIX NQY in East Street.
The second artwork features a fisherman tending to his nets at the junction of Fore Street and Sydney Road, which was created by Elle Koziupa.
Artist 45 RPM created the third mural, an illustrative and playful design on the back of The Walkabout at The Crescent.
The mural features elements like surfing, palm trees, crabs, fishing nets, and camping.
The fourth mural depicting giant bouncing beach by renowned artist Josephine Hicks aka Hixxy was created on the Unity building in Gover Lane.
Each artwork is connected via QR codes, which provides information about the artists and the design.
