Newquay Museum was off to a flying start with the first of its programme of illustrated talks looking at the town and Cornish historic, cultural and environmental heritage.
Museum co-ordinator Len Sheppard’s talk ‘Newquay’s Past Through Pictures’ was well received by a full house.
Len said: “I’m very pleased with the response, thank you to all those who supported us. Sharing and educating people about Cornwall its identity and wider heritage and Newquay’s place as a Cornish town is important. Ensuring that the influx of new residents as well as seasonal visitors appreciate Cornwall as a distinct Celtic part of the UK with its own recognised national minority along with Wales and Scotland.”
Newquay Museum look forward to hosting a range of Cornish and Celtic music sessions along with illustrated talks by expert speakers and Cornish language workshops, all of which help promote and maintain the museum.
The next event is on Tuesday, July 11 at 2pm an illustrated talk entitled ‘Cornish Smugglers with special reference to Newquay’.
