North Cornwall Conservatives have reselected sitting MP Scott Mann to be their candidate at the next General Election.

Mr Mann, a former postman who has been the constituency’s MP for eight years, said it was a real honour to be unanimously reselected.

The election is due to be held next year, though changing political events could see it being held earlier.

Mr Mann, 45, who was born in Wadebridge, is currently a Government Whip. Last year, during the short premiership of Liz Truss, he was a junior environment minister.

At the last General Election, in December 2019, Mr Mann more than doubled his majority to 14,752, taking  59.4 per cent of the vote.

Mr Mann, 45, says in his weekly column in the Voice this week: “My motivation and drive for North Cornwall is to make the constituency I grew up in a place where our children don’t have to leave for jobs and opportunities. Too many friends from my youth had to go up country for work and, therefore, I have campaigned so hard for better skills and training.”
