A missing flamingo has been seen flying over Cornwall in a new video - after she escaped from a wildlife sanctuary, writes SWNS reporter Filipa Gaspar.

Frankie was last seen at Paradise Park in Hayle at 8am on Sunday, November 2 - before being spotted in the wild at 10.15am.

Her search sparked a frantic county-wide search as the bird is still missing. But new footage has emerged showing Frankie soaring through air, flapping her wings and gliding at Hayle Estuary.

Writing alongside the video, taken by a member of the public, a spokesperson for the attraction said: "This video by Ben Oakes is Frankie flying at Hayle Estuary on Sunday at 12:30pm.

"It helps show how she looks when flying, and she appears much pinker in flight than we expected.

"Please keep a look out for her, especially anyone in the Newlyn and Longrock areas, plus Hayle, as that is where most of the sightings have come from, although of course she could travel quite a way very quickly as we can see here.

"Please if possible take photos or video if you can to send in to help us identify if it is her. Along with location."

Paradise Park said Frankie makes a “very nasal honking sound” and is urging anyone who hears or sees her to get in touch.

She managed to escape despite having her feathers clipped and staff at the park are said to be "beside themselves" with worry.

The park added that Frankie cannot survive "long term" in Cornwall due to their special diet.

A Paradise Park spokesperson added: "Although they feed on algae and the small prey described which would be available locally, this would become more difficult as the weather got colder.

"There are also risks from predators like foxes. When not flying, she would be on the ground as flamingos are wading birds so putting her more at risk."

Anyone who sees Frankie is urged to contact Paradise Park on 01736 753365, email them on [email protected] or message them on Facebook.
