THE annual Newquay Zombie Crawl descended, and it was by far our biggest and best yet.
I was absolutely thrilled to see thousands of people, from dedicated participants to amazed spectators, pour into Newquay to be part of the fun. A personal highlight for me was, once again, getting to lead the magnificent horde through our streets as your ‘Zombie Mayor’!
This fantastic event doesn’t happen by magic. A huge thank you must go to Mark at Newquay BID, who started this brilliant tradition a few years ago. It has quickly become a beloved part of our town’s culture, with people travelling from across the UK to join in. That speaks volumes about the unique community spirit we have here.
My gratitude also extends to Amy from the Town Council for her support, and to Marie from Little Rainbow Arts for her masterful work in zombifying me! A final, massive thanks to the many volunteers from numerous organisations who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
In more brilliant news, last week also saw the counting of the Newquay BID ballot boxes. I was delighted to learn that the BID has been successfully renewed for another five years!
Over the past couple of years, we have worked hard together to increase town centre footfall through event delivery, vibrant mural work, and making our core more welcoming. Given the resources we have, we have achieved unbelievably well.
I very much look forward to continuing this close and productive partnership with Mark and the BID team to achieve even more for our wonderful town in the coming term.

Another changeable week ahead, strong Westerly winds at times, today probably the quietest of the week.
One of the private boats was lifted out on lorry on Monday for winter maintenance, the rest are being lifted out on November 10. One of the training gigs has gone to Loe Beach for the winter for rowing.
This Saturday at Rowing Club is Halloween Disco, 9pm, on Sunday at 3pm is “Black Velvet”, Irish music.
Thought for the Week: “Small steps today, a better tomorrow.”
