Police have charged a man in connection to a serious assault which happened in Newquay on Tuesday, May 2.

Officers were notified just before 3.15pm following reports of a serious assault on a man in Edgcumbe Avenue, Newquay.

Officers and the ambulance service attended the scene. A man in his 20s, was taken to Derriford Hospital by Air Ambulance with suspected stab wounds. He is currently in a stable condition and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Liam Phillips, aged 18 and from Newquay, has been charged with one count of Section 18 causing grievous bodily harm with intent and two counts of assault on an emergency worker. He is due to appear at Truro Magistrates’ Court this morning (Thursday, May 4).
