A man was airlifted to hospital after he sustained suspected stab wounds in an attack at a property in Newquay on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident took place at a property in Edgcumbe Avenue at around 3.15pm.

The Cornwall Air Ambulance landed on the Barrowfields and the victim was flown to Derriford Hospital where he is believed to be in a stable condition.

Police confirmed that a man had been arrested.

Police cordoned off the scene of the incident and forensic teams attended the scene to gather evidence.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were notified just before 3.15pm on Tuesday 2 May to reports of a serious assault on a man at a property on Edgcumbe Avenue, Newquay.

“Officers and ambulance service attended the scene.

"The victim was taken to Derriford Hospital by Air Ambulance with suspected stab wounds.

"He is believed to be in a stable condition.

 “One man was arrested on suspicion of GBH and taken into police custody.”
