An official information sharing agreement has been signed between Camborne’s Business Improvement District (BID) team and Devon and Cornwall Police to help reduce crime in Camborne’s town centre.

BID Camborne bought into the app-based DISC system last year so that member businesses could report local crime and alert others to potential offenders.

Known as BID:BIS, the Camborne Business Intelligence Scheme has scored record levels of engagement and resulting convictions since its launch in October 2024.

The agreement increases the amount of information that can be shared on a case-by-case basis – for example, identifying those who have received an anti-social behaviour order.

“We’ve been working on this agreement with DISC and the police over the last few months and are delighted that the final version has now been signed,” said BID Camborne manager Anna Pascoe.

“It’s another great milestone in the fight against local crime, with BID, member businesses and the police using BID:BIS to effectively collaborate.

“Business livelihoods are damaged by indiscriminate offending and BID directors are determined to lead the way in ensuring town safety.

“That’s why this information sharing agreement is so important and why DISC is proving such a successful crime deterrent.”
