ONE of Newquay’s most iconic buildings that provides a beacon for the community has been illuminated to raise awareness for a charity.

The Huer’s Hut was lit up blue to shine a light on Nerve Tumours UK awareness day on Saturday, May 17.

The charity provides support and information, as well as campaigns and raises awareness on behalf of over 26,500 people in the UK who have NF, the medical name for a set of genetic conditions that cause tumours to grow on nerve endings.

The Huer's Hut stood out more than ever across the town ( )

Newquay Lions Club provided the lights for the occasion, which were purchased from money donated by Zoe Dixon, in memory of her late husband, Terry, who sadly passed away due to pancreatic cancer.

The charity working alongside Newquay Town Council, and with the support of the Huers Hut custodian, Jon Goodman, is able to light up the building for any recognised charity or organisation wishing to mark their special day.

Andy Hannan, the vice president of Newquay Lions said: “We welcome charities and organisations to contact us if they would like to mark their special day with the lighting up of the Huers Hut.

“We have a full selection of different colours available, and it is always great to see our landmark illuminated in all of its glory.”
