Hundreds of runners from across Cornwall and further afield braved horrible weather on Sunday to take part in the Truro Half Marathon.

The race started with a loop of central Truro before competitors headed out to Porth Kea, Playing Place and Cowlands and then returning to Lemon Quay.

The event was the penultimate race in the Cornish Grand Prix Series and it was dominated by Truro athletes.

Steve Reynolds and Anna Harrold both claimed victories for Truro Running Club.

Reynolds won the men’s race in 1:16.47, which was nearly two-and-a-half minutes ahead of the second-placed athlete, which was Nathan Goddard of the University of Exeter.

Cornwall AC’s Liam Rowe was third in 1:22.21, with East Cornwall Harriers’ Simon Morse fourth (1:22.48) and Newquay Road Runners’ Darren Roose fifth and first M40 (1:23.13).

Harrold, who competes in the F40-44 category, dominated the women’s race, winning by more than two minutes with a time of 1:24.39.

Falmouth Running Club claimed second and third places in the women’s event, with Ruth Barnes second (1:26.47) and Sarah Reel third (1:35.29). St Austell’s Carly Kendall was fourth (1:36.06), with Truro’s Lucy Williams fifth (1:38.53).

Truro Running Club won the women’s team award ahead of Hayle, while Cornwall AC took the men’s team title, with Hayle again claiming runners-up spot.
