A Truro hotel is to host a unique Cornish tasting evening in celebration of St Piran’s Day.

The Alverton in Truro will showcase the best of Cornish cuisine with a six-course Kernow-inspired tasting menu this Saturday.

Created by head chef, Ollie Wyatt, the bespoke menu is filled with unique dishes, heavily influenced by traditional Cornish recipes with a modern Alverton twist.

Ollie’s culinary creations will include delicate scallops and seaweed from Fowey, Cornish lamb with anchovies and salsa vierge, and a Newlyn inspired ‘fish & chips, finishing with a rich fondant and distinctly Cornish stout ice cream and a selection of Cornish cheese.

Ollie said: “I’m excited to be able to provide such a unique dining experience at The Alverton.

“Cornwall has a long and rich culinary history, and this menu will reflect the incredible cuisine that our county has to offer.”

Tickets are £60 per person and can be purchased via The Alverton’s website. The evening starts at 7pm in The Library at The Alverton.

The evening is part of The Alverton’s ‘Taste of Truro’ series where chefs highlight the very best seafood, grass-fed meats and harvest from across The Duchy.
