Mevagissey volunteers came together over the weekend to clear the view and expose a historic stone wall overlooking the harbour.

Mevagissey Community Action Group, run by local Cornwall councillor James Mustoe, works regularly on various public assets around the parish to maintain and improve the area.

On Saturday, they cleared vegetation and earth from the coast path above the harbour to open out a sea view and reclaim a historic wall that had been lost to years of overgrowth.

James said: “I became aware of this when I recently saw there were two benches just off the coast path, apparently looking at nothing. On closer inspection, it was clear that opposite them was a historic wall, and if soil and overgrowth could be cleared from it, it would transform the area.

“I’d like to thank everyone who came out on Saturday, really making a big difference to this part of Mevagissey; and also to Cormac for arranging the collection and disposal of the waste.

“We will be doing some more work here over the coming weeks to further improve the area, as well as other spots around the village.”
