Truro hotel The Alverton and its sister venue The Greenbank have raised more than £6,800 for the Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF), through events such as charity quizzes and optional donations for online hotel room bookings.

The two hotels teamed up with the charity in 2022, and pledged to support its mission to help front-line, volunteer-led organisations making a huge positive impact in their local area.

From youth clubs and food banks to support groups tackling issues including mental health, loneliness, and bereavement, the CCF has helped over 6,000 local projects across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Ben Young, managing director of both hotels, said: “Our hotels sit in the very heart of their communities, and within a stone’s throw of each are defined areas of poverty.

"These communities need the support of their local businesses in the best of times, let alone the challenging days we find ourselves in.

“It’s why we’re extremely grateful to everyone who has supported and donated to the CCF. The funds we have raised so far will help it to make a difference to our local community groups. We would love to smash our £6,000 target for this year and are encouraging locals and guests of the hotels to get involved with a calendar of exciting events on the horizon.”
