THE Green Party remains the largest political group at Newquay Town Council following the authority’s uncontested election.
The Central and Pentire ward will be represented by Jessie Jacobs from the Labour Party, Liberal Democrat Joanna Kenny, Marco Motta from the Green Party and Independents Margaret North and Mary Williamson.
The Porth and Tretherras ward saw Green Party representatives Liz Wright and Steve Slade elected along with Nick Morris from the Conservative Party, Linda Martin from Labour and Liberal Democrat Sandy Carter.
The Trenance ward will be represented by Green Party councillors Joe Brook, Drew Creek and Jane Hubbucks along with Labour’s Elizabeth Trumble.
The Whipsiderry ward will be represented by Independent George Edwards and Sarah Thomson from the Green Party.
Former Conservative town councillors Olly Monk and Louis Gardner decided not to stand for election.
Newquay Town Council has three vacancies to fill, two in the Trenance ward and one in the Whipsiderry ward.
The vacancies will be filled by co-option at Newquay Town Council’s meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, June 4 at 7pm.
Anyone interested in applying for one of the roles needs to download a form from the council’s homepage at www.newquay.gov.uk
Alternatively post or hand deliver the form to Newquay Town Council, Municipal Offices, Marcus Hill TR7 1AF. The forms need to be received by Tuesday, May 27 at 9am.
