A buoyant crowd enjoyed themselves on Saturday as Grampound hosted its annual carnival.

There were plenty of people taking part in the procession  accompanied by some very impressively decorated   floats. During the day a fete was held at the recreation ground and village hall with children’s entertainment, live music, car boot sale, food vendors and craft stalls amongst plenty of games for the whole family to take part in.

The money raised in the fete will be going towards Cornwall Blood Bikes and Grampound’s carnival fund.

Evening entertainment came in the way of music performances by the Highley Strung folk band and the Still Dizzy local soul band rocking out at the village hall.

Carnival week at Grampound has always provided an opportunity for the village to bring the community closer together and this year was no exception.

The village started its week-long schedule of events in the run-up to Carnival day by hosting a horse racing fundraiser. Following on from this was a toy pig racing competition at the Dolphin Inn pub and the Roger Paynter memorial football match.

There was also a quiz night and bingo evening, while the the night before the carnival day atmosphere could begin the Dolphin Inn welcomed the band Small Wonder.
