Saltash got into the festive spirit on Saturday with Christmas celebrations in the town centre.
A large number of people attended the Saltash Christmas Festival, in Fore Street, which was organised by the town’s chamber of commerce.
Various festive events were featured including a Christmas market, pop-up carols, Santas on Bikes in aid of Children’s Hospice South West, a lantern parade and fireworks.
A Santa fun run saw a sea of Santas set off from the top of Fore Street and follow a route across the Tamar Bridge and back again.
The 3k family run aimed at getting local people together for a bit of extra festive fun before the lantern parade headed up Fore Street. Community groups showcased their activities and shopkeepers brought their goods out into the street. There were also rides and inflatables to enjoy.
Parking was free in Cornwall Council car parks.
A spokesman for the festival said: “We would like to say a thank you to those who contributed to this year’s Saltash Christmas Festival, from sponsors, supporters, funders, stallholders and, of course, all those who purchased raffle tickets, which really do help fund the event!
“The Saltash Christmas Festival would not be possible without the grants from Saltash Town Council and Cornwall Council, as well as donations from Saltash Scrapstore, and sponsorship from All Home Improvements Cornwall, Carlton Plastics - SW Ltd and The Bookshelf.
“In addition to our sponsors and funders, the Saltash Christmas Festival wouldn’t happen without the countless hours of donated time, energy and support from many organisations and people:”
A chamber of commerce spokesperson said: “Remember to shop local this Christmas to support local businesses who have supported us through the pandemic.”
