MEMBERS of the Oddfellows Friendly Society in Redruth, Playing Place (Truro) and Plymouth have been enjoying a lively few months filled with friendship, fun and fascinating activities.

Recent highlights have included inspiring talks from ‘Rubbish Ruth’ about her campaign to ‘Beautify Britain’, a presentation from a retired police officer who worked with forces in the USA and on aid missions in Eastern Europe, and a heartwarming visit from Lizzie and her amazing guide dog, Ferdy.

Members also enjoyed a trip to the Royal Naval Heritage Centre in Devonport, along with quizzes, board games, lunches out, raffles and regular welfare support for those in need.

The Redruth Friendship Group were particularly proud to present £50 to Lizzie for Guide Dogs UK with funds raised through the raffle and then increased greatly from the sale of gifts.

Book giveaways, audiobooks, free chair yoga sessions, and plenty of refreshments have all helped ensure that every get-together has been welcoming, supportive and full of laughter.

“It’s all about friendship and community,” said local secretary Peter English. “We’re here for each other, whether that’s through a friendly chat, a social event, or a bit of help when times are tough.”

The Plymouth and Truro District Oddfellows is part of one of the UK’s oldest and friendliest societies, dedicated to bringing people together through friendship, support and community spirit.

Open to all ages and backgrounds, membership offers access to regular social events across Cornwall and Plymouth, as well as a range of benefits.
