A range of music, entertainment and family-friendly activities is planned for the heart of Newquay this summer.
Newquay Town Council will be staging its Summer Sessions at the Killacourt, which will include five free events throughout July and August.
The programme will open with The First Wave on Saturday, July 4 from 10am to 6pm.
The event will feature live performances from Chris Hogg, a K-Pop tribute and The Qwest, with Radio Newquay keeping the energy up throughout the day.
The opening session coincides with the BIG Newquay Market and the Newquay Carnival to create a full programme of activity across the town.
This will be followed by the Country Hoedown, which will take place on Saturday, July 18 from 12pm to 8pm.
The event will showcase a range of country and western-inspired performances, including Tom Cary, The Cornish Cowboy, Bow River and Deeks Cowboys, alongside line dancing and family-friendly entertainment throughout the day.
The annual School’s Out Disco will take place on Saturday, July 25 from 1pm to 3pm, with a fancy dress competition supported by 10 Over Surf Shop and the UK Surf and Skate Expo.
The session is aimed at younger audiences to provide a fun and welcoming way to mark the start of the summer holidays.
The series continues with the Sunset Session on Saturday, August 15 from 3pm to 9pm. This new addition to the Newquay Sessions line-up will include DJ sets and live performances from DJ Jamie Elliott, DJ Proof and Sean Lloyd, and DVotion.
The final event, People’s Playlist, will be held on Saturday, August 22 from 12pm to 8pm, with a line-up chosen by the community.
Showcasing a variety of local talent, the line-up includes Amy Todd, Joe Hurworth, COLOUR – The Band, C Bone and Still Dizzy, with Radio Newquay supporting the event across the day.
Steve Facer, the director of resources at Newquay Town Council, said: “These events have been curated so they offer something for everyone, bringing the community together in a stunning location where people can enjoy a range of free activities and performances.
“Events are an integral part of our cultural fabric and form an important strand in our corporate plan, supporting local performers and businesses, driving footfall and increasing dwell time in the town centre.
“These events punctuate the year and add colour and vibrancy to our community calendar.”
A spokesperson for Newquay Town Council added: “Designed to offer something for all ages, the Newquay Sessions will bring a diverse range of music, entertainment and family-friendly activities to the heart of the town.
“Delivered entirely free of charge, the series reflects the town council’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality events for both residents and visitors.
“Bar facilities will be available at the events, excluding the School’s Out Disco, and all sessions are open to all ages.
“Note that events may have to be postponed or cancelled in the event of adverse weather. Further updates will be provided on our website, Facebook and Instagram.”
