Emergency services were scrambled after a rider fell off their horse at the Gannel Estuary on Wednesday morning.

Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to assist South Western Ambulance Service and an appliance from Newquay Fire Station attended the incident at about 10.45am.

The casualty was assisted out the Gannel and handed over to the ambulance service.

A Coastguard spokesperson said: “We would like to thank all for their assistance.

“If you see someone in difficulty along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
