THE owner of a development company is due to appear in court after being accused of dumping construction waste in a field at Rejerrah near Newquay.
Paul Stephens, who runs Stephens & Stephens Group in Truro and Park Lane Financial Management Ltd, is being investigated by the Environment Agency regarding the site on Scotland Road off the A3075 for disposing of controlled waste in a manner likely to cause pollution of the environment or harm to human health.
Mr Stephens and Park Lane Financial Management Ltd are due to appear before Truro Crown Court for a second hearing on March 16. No pleas have yet been entered.
They face one charge of treating, keeping or disposing of controlled waste in a manner likely to cause pollution of the environment or harm to human health and one charge of failing to provide a written description of waste.
Two charges of operating a regulated facility otherwise than under or in accordance with an environmental permit and four charges of consent or connivance in the commission of an offence.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: “Park Lane Financial Management Ltd and Paul John Stephens are to appear before Truro Crown Court charged with several waste offences.
“These include storing waste improperly to prevent pollution and operating a regulated facility outside the rules of an environmental permit.”
