DRUG DEALING

VENTSISLAV CHAVDAROV, 25, of NFA, has been sent to Truro Crown Court in custody charged with possessing 11.61g of cocaine at Newquay on 22 May with intent to supply. His case is listed for 19 June.

KARL DUCKWORTH, 30, of Wheal Eliza Close, St Austell has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with concealing/transferring/removing/converting criminal property under the Proceeds of Crime Act at Wheal Eliza Close on 16 May namely proceeds of criminal activity by means of selling puppies, tobacco and vapes; possessing 228.71 grams of cocaine with intent to supply; possessing 7,714.1 grams of cannabis with intent to supply; possessing criminal property namely a quantity of cash and an offensive weapon, an extendable baton which was found in his bedroom. He was remanded in custody and his case listed for 17 June.

SEX OFFENCES

STEPHEN NEWCOMBE, 57, of Kingston Upon Hull has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with seven historic sexual offences against a girl in St Austell. His case is listed for 20 June and he was released on conditional bail not to contact four people or anyone under the age of 18 unless they are supervised by an adult aware of the allegations.

ROBERT STILES, 53, of Beacon Road, Bodmin pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to six sexual offences including inciting a 14-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity. He was sent to prison for three years, his iPhone was seized, he has to register with the police indefinitely and was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order limiting his use of the internet and contact with children.

CONTROLLING BEHAVIOUR

JAMIE TAYLOR, 40, of Gover Road, St Austell has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with engaging in coercive behaviour in St Austell by being verbally abusive and threatening towards a woman and assaulting her when she was pregnant and he is alleged to have caused her actual bodily harm. His case is listed for 20 June.

ADRIAN JENKINS, 39, of Moorland View, Saltash has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with engaging in controlling behaviour between April 2023 and May 2025, strangling and assaulting a woman on 16 May and using threatening behaviour towards another woman on 16 May. He was remanded in custody and his case listed for 17 June.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

JASON HOLLAND, 43, of NFA, was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence notice on 15 May not to contact a woman or go to an address in Newquay.

MICHAEL TUCKEY, 34, of NFA, was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection notice on 18 May not to contact or threaten a woman or go to an address in Newquay.

SAMUEL BIRCH, 40, of Carpalla, Foxhole was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection notice on 18 May not to contact or threaten a woman or enter an address in Bodmin Road, St Austell.

HAMZA KARABULUT, 41, of Dundance Lane, Pool was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection order on 15 May not to contact a woman or go to an address in Bodmin.

STALKING

TOMOS WEEKES, 35, of Newman Road, Saltash has been made subject to a stalking protection order for two years not to contact a woman, attend any place he suspects she is present, not to mention her on social media or follow her on social media.

ASSAULT

JAMES BENDELL, 39, of Riverside Caravan Park, Minorca Lane, Bugle has been detained in hospital because of his mental health after he pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman at Bugle occasioning her actual bodily harm in December 2023 and stealing an electric bike from Minorca Lane in June 2024.

SOPHIE JASPER, 23, of NFA, has been given a 15-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, following her sixth conviction for assaulting an emergency worker. Last week she pleaded guilty to charges of assaulting a police officer and possessing cannabis on East Hill, St Austell on 2 March. Magistrates ordered her to have alcohol treatment for 15 weeks and she must pay the officer £100 compensation.

LIAM RATCLIFFE, 24, of Ranelagh Road, St Austell pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on a person at Bethel Club on Daniels Lane, St Austell in March 2024 and possessing 0.4g of cocaine. He was given a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months and has to do 140 hours unpaid work and pay his victim £2500 compensation as well as a £114 surcharge and £85 costs.

DAVID MICHAEL, 34, of Alexandra Road, St Austell was found not guilty of three assaults, coercive behaviour and theft at Truro Crown Court when the prosecution offered no evidence.

OLIVER AXTELL, 24, of Penarwyn Road, St Blazey pleaded guilty to assaulting two police officers at the Telephone Exchange on Par Lane, Par on 8 March. He was given a community order which includes a four-month curfew to remain at his home between 7am and 7pm daily and to have treatment for his drug use. He has to pay £150 compensation to each of the officers he assaulted.

GARETH MACHON, 30, of Statham Road, Bodmin pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on a man in Bodmin in November 2023. He was made subject to a community order and must do 200 hours unpaid work and pay £1000 compensation, a £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

LEVI TOMS, 52, who is living in a bail hostel in Camborne, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman namely spitting at her at Bodmin Hospital on 1 April, to assaulting a man at the hospital on 12 March and assaulting a second man on 12 and 26 March. His case was adjourned until 29 August.

TANUJA WIGNESWARAN, 51, of Tanyas on the A30 at Four Winds, Bodmin pleaded not guilty to assaulting a man by beating on 14 November. She will stand trial at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court on 17 November. She was released on conditional bail not to enter The Flat at Penlan Garage petrol station, not to contact her alleged victim or go to Penlan Garage except for work purposes.

THREATENING BEHAVIOUR

JOSHUA WEBB, 22, of Beaumont Road, Plymouth pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour towards a woman and a man at Fair Street, St Columb on 2 May. He will be sentenced on 5 September and was released on conditional bail not to go to an address in Fair Street, St Columb.

HOUSING BENEFIT

ANDREW LAIDLAW, 62, of Cross Close, Newquay has elected for trial by jury on a charge of between March 2019 and August 2023 failing to inform Cornwall Council that he was in possession of capital savings which affected his entitlement to housing benefit. His case is listed for 20 June.

THEFT

MARTIN WARD, 52, of NFA, Newquay has been sent to prison for 20 weeks after he pleaded guilty to five charges of theft from shops in Newquay and breaching a criminal behaviour order on 19 April by entering The Whim at Alma Place, Newquay when prohibited from being in that area. Magistrates gave the reason for custody being his flagrant disregard of court orders.

MARTIN DAVIS,54, of St Dominics Close, Bodmin pleaded guilty to stealing £179 worth of items from Boots in Bodmin on 10 December and £282 worth of items on 16 November and to possessing 0.415 grams of cannabis at Higher Bore Street, Bodmin on 25 January. He was given an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. Magistrates said only a custodial sentence could be justified because he has a flagrant disregard for people and their property and the number and nature of the offences shows he is operating as a professional criminal. He has to pay £461 compensation and £85 costs.

HAYDEN TINSLEY, 21, of Dungarth Street, Liskeard had a warrant issued for his arrest when he failed to turn up to court to answer seven charges of theft and one of possessing a knife at Dean Street, Liskeard on 18 March.

DRUNK

JOOLS EASTWOOD, 34, of Rialton Heights, Newquay had the case proved in his absence that he was drunk and disorderly on Narrowcliff Road, Newquay on 22 January. He was fined £180 and ordered to pay £650 costs and a £72 victim surcharge.

SAMANTHA STEVENS, 45, of Clover Walk, Saltash pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly on Trevella Caravan Park, Crantock on 5 May. She was given a conditional discharge for six months and has to pay a £26 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

DANGEROUS DRIVING

REUBEN CARBY, 31, of Margaret Crescent, Bodmin pleaded guilty to driving dangerously on Lower Bore Street and Finn VC Estate, Bodmin on 4 January; failing to stop when required by a police officer on Cardell Road; to driving with 271 micrograms of BZE per litre of blood exceeding the limit of 55; driving with 2.9 micrograms of cannabis exceeding the limit of two; driving with 32 micrograms of cocaine exceeding the limit of ten and to possessing 3.2 grams of cannabis. He was given an interim driving ban and will be sentenced on 26 September.

DRIVING WHILST DISQUALIFIED

CHARLES SANTANA, 49, of Alseveor Close, Carluddon, St Austell pleaded guilty to driving on Alexandra Road, St Austell on 22 May and 27 March whilst disqualified from driving. He will be sentenced on 19 September and was released on conditional bail not to sit in the front seat of any vehicle.

DRUG/DRINK DRIVE

JANE GRETTON, 47, of Trenance Lane, Newquay pleaded guilty to driving on the A39 near Camelford on 3 May with 81 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. She was banned from driving for 20 months, which will be reduced by 20 weeks if she completes a course, fined £276 and ordered to pay £110 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

FREDERICK HALL, 38, of Cross Lane, St Austell was found guilty of driving on Lostwood Road, St Austell on 12 May last year with 66 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. He was banned from driving for 18 months, which will be reduced by 18 weeks if he completes a course, fined £180 and has to pay £650 costs and a £92 victim surcharge.

SHAUN DELIGHT, 32, of Poldrea, Tywardreath has been banned from driving for three years after pleading guilty to riding a Kawasaki on Cypress Avenue, St Austell on 17 January with 6.5 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood exceeding the limit of two and without a licence or insurance. He was fined £833 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £333 victim surcharge. He was given a community order, must have mental health treatment and do 140 hours unpaid work. He was banned from driving for 24 months which will be reduced by 24 weeks if he completes a course. He has to pay a £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

JULIE CLINTON, 46, of Penarwyn Road, St Blazey pleaded guilty to driving on Holmbush Road, St Austell on 3 May with 63 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. She was banned from driving for 17 months, which will be reduced by 17 weeks if she completes a course, fined £100 and ordered to pay a £48 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

MARTIN DAVIS, 54, of St Dominics Close, Bodmin pleaded guilty to driving on the A30 at Temple with 22 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood exceeding the limit of ten, to using a Mercedes A150 with a faulty tyre and faulty rear light and driving without insurance. He was given an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and banned from driving for 29 months.

JACOB PELLOW, 32, of Grannys Green, Bodmin pleaded guilty to driving on Lesnewth, Biscovey on 29 November with 32 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood exceeding the limit of ten. He was given a community order and put on a curfew to remain at his home from 7pm to 7am for three months and was banned from driving for three years. He has to pay a £114 surcharge and £85 costs.

ALEXANDER BRYANT, 36, of Lanxon Crescent, Lanivery pleaded guilty to failing to provide police with a specimen for analysis at Treliske Hospital on 22 February when suspected of committing a traffic offence. He was given a community order, must have mental health treatment and do 140 hours unpaid work. He was banned from driving for 24 months, which will be reduced by 24 weeks if he completes a course and ordered to pay £114 surcharge and £85 costs.

VICTORIA GAMBIE, 37, of Bodwannick View, Bodmin pleaded guilty to driving at Morrisons in Bodmin on 8 February with 70 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35, to stealing a bottle of wine from the petrol station and driving without insurance. She was given an interim driving ban and her case adjourned until 18 July.

SPEEDING

GEMMA CURTIS, 38, of New Molinnis, Bugle pleaded guilty to speeding through Longdowns Village in November 2023. She was banned from driving for six months due to repeat offending, fined £80 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £90 costs.

ROBERT ADAMS, 54, of Ashley Close, Penwithick was banned from driving for repeat offending after pleading guilty to speeding in Totnes in December 2023 and Ebsworthy Town in March 2024. He was fined £120 and will have to pay a £48 victim surcharge and £620 costs.

LEONARD PARSONS, 77, of Grenville Road, Lostwithiel has been banned for driving for six months due to repeat offending after pleading guilty to speeding on Tregolls Road, Truro last March. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay a £16 victim surcharge and £90 costs.
