Pentewan Post Office enjoyed an official grand opening ceremony on Saturday at its new home in Phoenix Stores.

Cornwall and parish councillor James Mustoe cut the ribbon, music was provided by Barney and The Boys, and a variety of stalls and a raffle raised a combined £247 for the Pentewan Village Hall Fund. Store manager Alex Batten said “an incredibly successful day” had been had by all.

The raffle included prizes donated by Kernow Fresh, Westcountry Fruit Sales, Cornish Premier Pasties, Little Bay Café, The Ship Inn and a big joint of pork from Andy at Cornwall’s Family Butcher.

Free pasties and slushies were on offer to those who turned up to celebrate.

“On behalf of Phoenix Stores, I’d like to thank everyone who turned up and supported us and continues to shop with us,” said Alex.

“I couldn’t have done it without our amazing staff who go above and beyond.”
