THE annual open day at a Cornwall fire station has raised over £1,000 for two good causes.

Each year, Bodmin Community Fire Station opens its doors to the general public for a fire themed family fun day.

As well as providing an informative and entertaining day for all those who visit the community fire station, it is also an opportunity for Bodmin community fire station’s dedicated team to raise money for good causes.

One of this year’s beneficiaries was the Firefighters Charity, an organisation which helps provide for members of the fire services community and their family both during and after services with clinical care, well being and practical assistance.

The other beneficiary was the Little Margate Equestrian Therapy Ponies and Friends, which is an organisation which provides therapeutic services through interactions with its range of farm animals, which include ponies, donkeys, goats, sheep, ducks and chicken in addition to their famous miniature ponies.

Announcing that the open day raised in excess of £1,000, a spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service thanked all those who participated in the open day and the businesses who donated food, drinks and raffle prizes on a successful day.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: “After a very hectic few weeks we have finally managed to draw the raffle tickets for our station open day - so please bear with us whilst we contact all the winners.

“We also wanted to thank everyone that attended our open day and helped us raise over £1000 for our chosen charities which are The Firefighters Charity and Little Margate Equestrian Therapy Ponies and Friends.

“Finally, a big thank you to all the businesses that helped us make this day possible through generous donations of food, drinks and raffle prizes. We could’ve never had such a successful day without you so thank you.”
