A night club has been criticised after warning people they will receive a lifetime ban if they are caught using fake notes in the venue.
Eclipse, in Bodmin, has issued the warning after counterfeit £20 notes were used over the festive period.
But people have complained about the stance as they believe many revellers might not realise they are in possession of a fake note.
A spokesman for Eclipse said: “All notes will now be checked fully and the management of the club are making it very clear that if anyone is found to be trying to use one of these notes as payment they will be detained until police arrival and will automatically receive a lifetime ban from the club and if that person’s excuse is ‘I didn’t realise the note was fake’ that excuse will simply not be entertained.
“We hope this message acts as a clear warning.”
