Student successes at a Camborne school have been celebrated at an end-of-year presentation evening.

Families of Year 11 and 13 students from Camborne Science International Academy (CSIA) attended a special ceremony where awards were presented for academic achievements.

More than 400 guests, students, teachers, and parents attended the evening which saw special scrolls given out for outstanding GCSE and A-Level students across a variety of subjects and disciplines, culminating in the awarding of The Penventon Shield and The Richard Bath Trophy for the highest achieving student for both year groups respectively.

The Richard Bath Trophy for Outstanding Academic Achievement at A-Level was presented to Ali Abusara and the Penventon Shield for the GCSE Student of the Year was presented to Josh Tucker. The Stone Computer Award was presented to Jack Beavis for his unwavering enthusiasm and delivering an outstanding programming project in computing.

There were also awards for the Sixth Form Head Boy and Head Girl, Deputies and Management Team from last year and Georgiana Bolt, Tom Robbins, Kieren Matters, Ali Abusara, Imogen Murray, Ben Kershaw, Jade Varley and Holly Bellamy were all thanked for their contribution to the success of the VI Form that went far beyond the expected.

Headteacher Emma Haase In her address spoke of her pride and privilege at leading such an outstanding school. She congratulated the students on their excellent summer examination results both at A Level and at GCSE.  She was particularly proud of all the students of Camborne Science and International Academy have achieved this year and the wonderful things the students have gone on to do.

Mrs Haase said: “Every year these Presentation Evenings are the perfect way to cap off a year of hard work and accomplishments, inviting families into the school to recognise their students is always a treat that the CSIA staff look forward to. We believe it’s hugely important to make time to celebrate our students’ achievements and lift them up to be recognised by their peers and teachers.”

“At CSIA we pride ourselves on developing skills and habits to last a lifetime, so to have a long list of students in contention for these awards is a real joy. Congratulations to everyone who was shortlisted this evening, we know they’ll go on to do amazing things.”

Students also took to the stage for a set of musical interludes from performers Morian Steinhart, Lola Gerrans, Lauren Bastable and Corey Williams, before the night ended in a Vote of Thanks towards the CSIA staff from Head Boy Sam Tell and Head Girl Freya Gilson.

Mrs Haase said: “The evening has been a great success.

“We’d like to wish all of our families a very Merry Christmas and look forward to picking all this hard work back up in the New Year.

“We’d also like to pay an enormous tribute to our marvellous staff, who tirelessly support our students in their journeys and help them realise their full potentials.”
