Businesses have stepped forward to sponsor an annual charity run staged at RAF St Mawgan.

Seven local businesses are sponsoring Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Rainbow Run, which will take place on Saturday, June 17.

The main sponsor of the event is Ann’s Cottage; the largest retailer of surf wear and accessories in Cornwall, and joining as paint station sponsors are Maen Karne, Moose Toys, Steve Andrews Tyres, Happy Days, Towergate and Biffa. Rewind Radio are also joining as the charity’s media partner.

Representatives from each of the businesses were welcomed at Little Harbour, CHSW’s local children’s hospice in St Austell, in April for a dedicated sponsor afternoon.

This is the first time since the pandemic that there has been an opportunity for them to visit and see the hospice facilities in person and how their support is making a difference to local children and their families. More than 800 people have already signed up to take part in the Rainbow Run which will see them walk, jog or run the flat 5km route around RAF St Mawgan where they will get covered in powder paint of all colours of the rainbow.”

The event is open to anyone over the age of 5 and tickets are currently 10 per cent off, pricing at £18 for adults and £9 for children aged 5-15 years. Everyone taking part is encouraged to raise £20 to help fund one hour of care at Little Harbour.

On the day there will be an event village full of entertainment, stands, food and games and there will be performances from Cornwall Rock Choir to keep everyone entertained for a whole family day out.

Pre-booking your tickets by Wednesday, June 15 is essential via www.chsw.org.uk/rainbowcornwall
