The 121st Truro Primestock show was held last Wednesday, with 25 cattle and more than 40 sheep exhibited along with hay, silage, turnips, pumpkins, jam, cake and floristry.
Having been a feature on Lemon Quay for many years, the show is now held at the cattle market on the outskirts of the city, at the invitation of auctioneers Lodge and Thomas.
This year’s supreme show champion, sponsored by The Nare Hotel, was British Limousin heifer ‘Tigerlily’ owned by P&L Calcraft, Honiton. Weighing in at 635kg, she sold for a top price of £5.10p/kg (£3,238.50) to RJ Trevarthen Ltd.
The reserve supreme show champion, sponsored by Tregothnan Estate, was British Blue cross Limousin heifer Mars, owned by AMC Eddy of St Erth. Weighing 588kg, she sold for £5/kg (£2940) to Chris Dale of Dales Family Butchers in Helston.
The local champion, sponsored by Lodge and Thomas was South Devon heifer Matilda, owned by O&C Penellum of Trispen. Weighing in at 654kg, she sold for £3.20p/kg (£2,092). O&C Penellum also took the reserve local champion honours with Ron.
The supreme champion pair of lambs went to P&L Calcraft of Honiton, and the reserve champion to Mrs G Renfree and family.

“My thanks go to everyone who entered and huge congratulations to every prize winner.”
Sales and donations from the farm produce section raised £108 for The Wave Project.
