Looe RNLI has said a fond farewell to its trusty D-class lifeboat following the vessel coming to the end of its active service in the town.
The D-741 Ollie Naismith has left Looe for the RNLI’s inshore lifeboat centre in Cowes for a refit before entering the relief fleet.
The lifeboat was going on a road trip to South Wales, accompanying RNLI Port Talbot’s D Class D-848 Craig Morris returning to her home station before reaching Cowes.
Looe RNLI’s new D Class inshore lifeboat Ollie Naismith II is now in active service
The Looe Lifeboat Appeal raised more than £101,000 to bring the station’s new D Class inshore lifeboat to Looe.
The new lifeboat has also been named after the 19-year-old who died in a car crash in 2009 to carry on his lifesaving legacy.
